This freshman year was unexpectedly good. At first I was shy and scared because I didn’t know what to expect, but once I saw and made friends I wasn’t that shy anymore. I wasn’t good at talking in front of the class but some teachers encouraged me and because of that now I can talk in front of any audience who is placed in front of me. Teachers took me seriously. They weren’t playing around. After a few weeks my freshman year started getting better than it already was.
When I came to this school as a freshman I didn’t take things as seriously as other people. I goofed around most of the first few months. Even though I goofed around in class, teachers were still nice to me. Some of the teachers got mad, but they didn’t do anything. All they cared about was about my grades and seeing how I was doing. I thank them for that. Now, because of them my grades go no lower than a B.
My favorite class is Algebra I and Model UN. I’ve always liked math and Algebra was just another class that would help me get better in math. I always though algebra was going to be hard because of all the numbers and letters. It got easy once Mr.Vahora thought me how to do it. As for Model UN, I was never good at speaking or doing speeches for audiences. This class helped me so much. Now I can speak my mind. Say what I want to say. I’m not scared of being wrong, because I’ve learned that being wrong every once in a while is alright. My least favorite classes would have to be Chinese. I thought Chinese was going to be awesome, and it is. I just don’t understand it. I thought that by the end of the year I would be speaking Chinese but I realized that Chinese is a very hard language. I don’t think I’m cut out for Chinese, but I’ll try my best and keep on trying to learn the language.
This year I’ve met wonderful people and awesome teachers. Some of the amazing people I’ve met are Yanin Marquez, Rosa Correas, and Kevin. Some of the best teachers I’ve met are Mr.Vahora, and Ms.Kerner. These people have helped me so much. Throughout this year I’ve had a lot of challenges and these people helped me overcome and achieve my goals. Every obstacle I had that stopped me from reaching my goal, they helped me overcome. Every problem I didn’t understand, they walked me through it. I’ve met many new people in my life. All of them are awesome, but not as awesome as these teachers and new friends I’ve made. They are the ones who’ve helped me get through this year. They know it’s been challenging but they’ve been there every step of the way and I thank them for that.
Even though this year has been hard and challenging I know that I did well as a freshman at Sharpstown International. Although my grades in the first semester weren’t that good I brought them up the second semester and redeemed myself. From the very beginning I was determined not to fail 9th grade, and sure enough I won’t. I just have to keep on working hard like I have for the last few months and finish up.
As a freshman I didn’t expect 9th grade to be so good. Know I just have to use what I’ve learned here and apply it to the real world. I’ll need to use what I’ve learned when I go out, find a job, speak to someone from a different country. All these things will help me one way or another in the future, I’m sure of it. Also all of the things I learned as a 9th grader will help me reach and overcome my goals. This year will always be unforgettable.
